Lachine Canal

Just south of the Atwater Market, about ten minutes from Tupper, is the Lachine Canal. Although it runs right through the industrial part of downtown, all alongside the canal are beautiful running and biking trails and grassy banks, perfect for picnics!

Emily and I ran along it last week for the first time and the weather could not have been better– there was a nice breeze and the sun was gleaming off the water. This morning Katie and I decided to start our day off with a nice long run in the same spot. We headed out early trying to beat the rain and while we thankfully didn't get caught in a downpour, it was really windy and grey. Of course as I write this post the sun is out and the sky is blue, but nonetheless it was a great start to our day and it felt good to get out and run. I'm sure we'll be spending more time down by the canal in the future...We might even take advantage of the canoe rentals!

Obviously the canal has seen better days, as if evident from the google pics below, but you get get the idea :)
